WHAT'S IN A SAYING?The saying "a word to the wise..." is sometimes the preface for a good piece of advice or words of wisdom. It hints at the idea that a word or two may be all that is necessary to point a clever listener in the right direction. It is also a word play on my last name, which I am particularly fortunate to have as an educator. The purpose of this site is to serve as that extra word or two that helps students, parents, and co-workers stay informed with my classes and activities.
The mission for all of my classes is to provide opportunities for students to better their abilities in the four language arts: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. There will be days in life when calculations and mathematic equations are not needed. Some students will go on to pursue careers that do not depend on scientific theories or processes. Historic facts and lessons may not be a daily requirement for success. Students will need to read, write, speak, or listen every day for the rest of their lives. They will need these language arts to perform any job or career that they seek. They will need the language arts to build and keep meaningful relationships. Improving our abilities in the four language arts makes us better at life. |
